Did you know that your purchase may be eligible for VAT exemption?
Telecare and personal alarm equipment is exempt from VAT where the user has a qualifying medical condition. The criteria for qualifying for VAT exemption is that the user has:
- a chronic or ongoing medical condition requiring treatment or medication
- a physical or mental impairment
- a terminal illness
A person is not exempt simply because they are elderly, or if their condition is not permanent.
Some of the more common conditions than qualify for VAT exemption are:
Arthritis, Asthma, COPD, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Blindness, Deafness, Hypertension (High Blood Pressure), Anxiety, Depression, Diabetes, Physically Disabled, Cardiovascular Disease, Epilepsy, Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Multiple Sclerosis.
This is not an exhaustive list, lots of other conditions will satisfy the criteria outlined above. Not all products are eligible for VAT exemption e.g. Key Safes.
To confirm your eligibility for VAT exemption, and to not pay VAT, please complete the appropriate section on the Checkout page. You will then see that the VAT is removed from the price you are required to pay.
