A Little More About Our History…
Lifeline Telecare, as you know it now, came into existence when another well-known charity alarm provider found itself in financial difficulties and was no-longer able to look after its customers. The Bora Health Group of Companies stepped in to save the day, and make sure that thousands of elderly and vulnerable individuals stayed safe by keeping their alarms operating without interruption.
As part of the customer rescue, that protected people across the country, Lifeline Telecare also saved jobs by hiring the experienced and caring team of telecare operators from the previous company. This means that Lifeline Telecare brings with it a team of individuals with up to 26 years’ experience in keeping people safe at home. This level of experience is unrivalled in the UK telecare market!
With the combined business now in its 26th year, Lifeline has consistently grown from its beginnings as a small project borne out of a Blue Peter Appeal to address the need for greater care for the elderly in Liverpool. From an initial 200 customers in Liverpool, we now have thousands of customers – all across the UK.
In November 1991, a successful application to Blue Peter’s ‘Golden Age Appeal’ acted as the catalyst to get Lifeline off the ground. The appeal would help by providing £50,000 towards the £150,000 that was needed to set up Lifeline through an ‘aluminium fizzy drinks can’ appeal. Fundraising continued and caught the imagination of local schools, businesses and agencies – a real community effort, until Lifeline was officially launched.
Lifeline was then rolled out across Merseyside and surrounding areas to become one of the foremost telecare providers in the Northwest. The equipment has certainly evolved over that time (and got a lot smaller!). New contracts, rich collaborative working, and a dedicated marketing effort that has seen the service grow in an upward curve over the years.
When Lifeline’s customers were rescued by The Bora Health Group of Companies in 2018, a new company was born and rebranded as Lifeline Telecare. Bora Health is a global personal alarm and telecare company, with operations in the UK, USA and Australia.
Lifeline continues to work collaboratively within the health and voluntary sectors to generate links for ongoing referrals to the service. Our team has consistently grown to a now 10-strong staff team, with some members of the team having worked at Lifeline for over 20 years.
We deliver a first class, reliable service. In addition to our large private customer base, we also deliver telecare contracts for a range of clients such as local authorities, housing associations and care organisations.
